1.  Introduction

This document describes the steps required to install device drivers for Catapult UJ1 UJ2 JTAG Probes.


2.  Install Catapult Device Driver


Install catapult-drivers-win32-x.y.z. exe installer application like any other standard windows application. Please ensure that the installation directory is correct, because the firmware files are stored in the directory which would be used by the Catapult Drivers via Windows Registry Entry.  If there is any change in the firmware location, the registry entry needs to be updated accordingly.


The following snapshot is a typical registry entry in Windows XP.





For OEM installation, system integrators should modify the “Install_Dir” path.


3.  Install Catapult UJ1 or UJ2 Driver


1.      Plug Catapult -UJ1 or UJ2 hardware to system USB interface.

2.      After a short delay, the Found New Hardware Wizard displays.


3.      Select “No, not this time” and click Next.


4.      As you can see, the device is identified as “no firmware”.  Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and proceed.

5.      Select the directory where the Driver is installed. Please ensure that firmware files are located in the same folder.

6.      During the installation, if a Windows XP logo testing warning appears, click Continue Anyway to proceed.


7.      After a short period, “Found New Hardware Wizard” would be popped-up again.

8.      During this second time, the UJ1/UJ2 is identified with firmware.



9.      Repeat Steps 3 to 6.

10.  Once JTAG probe is installed, Ready LED appears with Green colour.

11.  Now the device should be ready to use.


4.  Un-Install Catapult UJ1 or UJ2 Driver

Un-installation procedure starts with removing the device driver from Windows Device Manager.


§        Click Start. Click Run. Type cmd and press OK.


§        Type “set DEVMGR_SHOW_DETAILS=1” (without quotation marks) and press Enter.


§        Type “set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1” (without quotation marks) and Press Enter.


§        Type “start devmgmt.msc” (without quotation marks) and click press Enter.


§        Click “+” to expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.



§        Select ByteTools Catapult UJ1 ( or UJ2)device, Right click it and click uninstall.



§        Click View. Click Show hidden devices.

§        Click “+” to expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.



§        If there any ByteTools Catapult UJ1 ( or UJ2) device grayed out, right click it and click Uninstall. 



5.  Un-install Catapult Drivers

§        Select Windows Start→All Programs→ByteTools→Catapult→Drivers–>Uninstall.

§        This will un-install Catapult Driver software from the installation directory.

§        If there are additional files are directories created inside the installation directory, un-install procedure will not remove the directories automatically. User can manually delete these directories.
